The other side of horizon

India, as potrayed by the people sitting in ac cars with 2-3 cars full of bodyguards may say this or think about it but my experience with India as a whole does not really matches. To start with the things, let me introduce my self. I am living in Noida, a city in Uttar Pradesh and very near to the capital of India, Delhi. It is supposed to show the reflection of our shining India. I got my car stolen from the front of my office gate, well this is actually not the worse part , in fact this would sound nothing as compared to what happened afterward. I was a bit dumbstruck because i did not imagine this to happen not at least from the front of my office. I went to police chowki and reported the theft, first response that i got from then was 'Because it was insured that's why you did not take care of it', second thing 'If you have parked it outside then it ought to be stolen'. It reminds me of a controversy some days back when Sheela dixit said that women of metros are becoming "adventurous" and they are roaming at night, this was her response to the rape of an Indian women. This is actually the mentality of most of the cops and people in India. Why can't our system be so healthy and our cops can be so efficient that women in India especially in Delhi can roam after 9 pm ? Why can't we people park our cars , outside the office , not actually conspiring to get an insurance claim but in hope that law and order is so efficient that we need not worry ? I mean at least I am living in so called 'NCR' region which is supposedly the best of India. What would you expect from other regions??
Anyways it is been 3 days since my car incident. I am still struggling to get a F.I.R lodged. Cops here ask you to write a complain in HINDI, not that I am against Hindi but what if I was from South India ?? These all are there tricks to make you give up in front of them and give them bribes. My relatives are on some good posts so I am being helped by some people in police department. But still only help that i am getting from that is , cops are at least talking to me not cussing me or asking me 'bribes' which actually they think is their birthright BECAUSE they are HARDLY WORKING for searching my car and preventing crime.

Getting the FIR done

Hello friends, So finally 3rd day after 3 hrs of struggle, I got my FIR registered. Well it seems writing one full page is real pain in the ass for the people there. They told me 'FIR likhne main dare lagti hai' Well actually the plan was to get some bribe from me and then write the FIR, although there was some pressure from the higher officials. I went there on 5pm and got my FIR after 8pm. I don't know what i should have felt but from the way they talk with us and harass us I promised myself that I will try that whatever task will be assigned to me, I will surely do it with all my heart and will put all the effort in that work. I dont' know should i mourn on this thing or should I neglect this incident and move on all I know is that they have given me a reason to do my work my 100 percent.

Leaving India or not ??

I was reading Times of India today and accidentally , I read an article on 'Slumdog Millionaire'. The reason why I got interested in writing this blog actually is not that I want to review the movie, or comment on that article. The author(Arundhati Roy, I guess) was actually commenting on poverty and trying to make a point saying that the film did not show "real" poverty, and the film has used poverty as a prop to move it's step toward Oscar. That's the point I really do not agree with, First of all Oscar is not some kind of noble prize that must be given only to films showing real issues and film might have other aspects like cinematography and picturaisation linked with it too. What was even more interesting in that article was that the author is in new york and she is writing that she is really 'sad' that India is portrayed that way and does some big talks about poverty.I found her really very angry that why the director did not show the real poverty. Well it actually gives an impression as if author has really experienced poverty ( which I personally doubt that she had).(Edit: I also realized that people might even started comparting this feeling of "emphathy" shown by the author to Mother Teresa, this is the extent to which our feelings can be manipulated). Some days back , when I was commenting on Indian system (Well my car got stolen, I can atleast show my anger to a little extent ) one of my friend asked me ' Why you always say you want to leave India and why not fighting the system??' , personally this standard template blows my head off ( no offense dear), BECAUSE I am really fed up of listening to this bull shit patriotic crap that comes from a movie made by some "GREAT" director.("GADAR", for instance, where Sunny Deol "fights" the system, the way people like everybody to fight. He pulls out a handpump and "singlehandedly" and fight the policemen in pakistan, This way he shows the "love" for his country). I wish I was Sunny Deol in real life :D. Then I surely would have fought the system in a way of "BRAVES" and not like coward by providing solution I am just goin to provide.

More or less everyone in our country is influenced by that line. People somehow gets the impression automatically that I am keen to leave India, without even thinking and there are problems in foreign that I am overlooking. Every body including my roommates ( till yesterday) thought the same thing, untill we wasted 3 days discussing why I came to the conclusion. My question to the people using that standard template just like our honourable author above is ...

'Have you ever really thought what "something" needs to be done???"( In authors case - " Did you ever even wasted that much effort thinking what can be done for the poors in India, instead of criticizing a movie that might have nominated to Oscar, purely for good theme and picturization??) Here are my thought and My solution (though people may not agree to that, but if you do not then kindly post some 3rd solution)

Once again starts with an analogy... Suppose there is a wolf and a child , wolf bit child. What should the child do ??

1) Hit the wolf back and get devoured by the wolf or

2) Leave that place ( at least try) and then come back when he is strong enough to fight with the wolf ( Not for the sake of revenge but for the sake of other child that might get bitten by the wolf).

But what if there are thousands of wolves in that jungle all waiting for the prey ????? Is it advisable to come ???

1)In that case.If you really want 'Something to happen' try working on the pups who are still amenable.

2) and finally If you can't do anything then sit on a cozy couch in New York, and dont' talk about poverty, because people might confuse you with Mother Teresa or Gandhi ji. Or worse the great thinker and philospher Swami Vivekananda. When I think your thought are not even close to Mother Teresa's thougths leave apart Gandhi ji and Swami Vivekanada.

(I am sure no one will do that too but I guess I will make my point). Though i would really like to hear some third way out :)

(P.S - A quote for the author who bashed 'Slumdog Millionaire', although applicable to me also "You can talk the talk , but can you walk the walk ?" )
